Manna City by Jeffrey Pierce – Book Review

Hello All!!!

I am here with another book review, and it is non other than Manna city by Jaffrey Pierce.

I thank the author for sending me a free copy of the eBook, in exchange for an honest review.

Nista is nine months pregnant, starving, and living in a cave. Her husband, Dane, thinks she’s gone crazy. And the first time she heard the voice of her unborn child, she thought she’d gone crazy, too. But the child has told her too many things, shown her too many things that have come to pass. She knows…someone is coming to usher them away from their isolated purgatory. Someone is coming to lead them through the unforgiving desert – teeming with lawless killers and savage beasts – to the last bastion of civilization, a mythical land of plenty called Manna City. My Review

There were some special characteristics that I found in the story;

  1. The story and the setting were intriguing.
  2. This is one of the most distinctive and noteworthy stories I have ever read.
  3. The setting is post – apocalyptic world, and it is filled with different kinds of monsters, beasts and humans.
  4. We meet the three main characters, Nista, a woman who is 9 months pregnant, Dane, Nista’s Husband, who keep on thinking repeatedly about their dead son and Halvist, a soldier.
  5. The three characters, were trying their best to survive, and for them day to day living becomes such a struggle.
  6. The hunger, thirst and the weariness of the characters are well visualized in each word of the story. While reading, you simply feel that!!!
  7.  The three of them create a partnership to find the mythical prosperous Manna City.
  8. The story was well written to the point, and an easy read too.
  9. In the end seeing our characters survive in the wasteland was made me felt really happy.

And now to the reason on why I gave this book three stars with so many positive points. Actually because, after reading the story, I got so many questions, where I could not find answers. Like, from where do they come, How did these people end up in the desert? etc. I felt that I was left un answered on these questions.

But that does not stopping me from recommending this book to all those who love reading Dystopian and post – apocalyptic stories. It is indeed a wonderful and intriguing story.

Until next post,

  1. I really enjoyed it myself. I get what you are saying, I have so many unanswered questions. But then at the same time, I kind of felt that was the point. The questions were there to suck you in.
