Synopsis

For the millions who log in every day, Warcross isn’t just a game—it’s a way of life. The obsession started ten years ago and its fan base now spans the globe, some eager to escape from reality and others hoping to make a profit. Struggling to make ends meet, teenage hacker Emika Chen works as a bounty hunter, tracking down players who bet on the game illegally. But the bounty hunting world is a competitive one, and survival has not been easy. Needing to make some quick cash, Emika takes a risk and hacks into the opening game of the international Warcross Championships—only to accidentally glitch herself into the action and become an overnight sensation.
Convinced she’s going to be arrested, Emika is shocked when instead she gets a call from the game’s creator, the elusive young billionaire Hideo Tanaka, with an irresistible offer. He needs a spy on the inside of this year’s tournament in order to uncover a security problem . . . and he wants Emika for the job. With no time to lose, Emika’s whisked off to Tokyo and thrust into a world of fame and fortune that she’s only dreamed of. But soon her investigation uncovers a sinister plot, with major consequences for the entire Warcross empire. (from Goodreads)

My Reveiw

From 2017, I was trying to get a hold of this book, but did not get the opportunity. First I fell in love with the cover with its colorful letters. I was able to complete the book within 3 days, because it was completely intriguing.

So, this is why the book was completely special to me;

  1. We meet our valorous female protagonist, Emika Chan who is a bounty hunter in the New York city, draped in poverty and debt. Her life changes from penniless to affluent in days by the offer of the young, well renowned, billionaire and the creator of the Warcross game, Hideo Tanaka.
  2. The story was amazing. I was speechless after reading it. I felt that Marie Lu being in the video game industry, have had some influence in creating this story.
  3. One of the most important things that I found in this story was that it did not get dragged or bogged down in the same place. It is totally hypersonic, which is why I love it so much. You feel that the story is moving forward while reading without being in the same spot. It kept me hooked-up to the book till the end, without feeling even slightly bored.
  4. The romance aspect of the story was really great and I enjoyed reading. I found the romance between Hideo and Emika, super cute. ❤ ❤ ❤ The way their love built, gradually is so adorable.
  5. The ending was totally not what I expected. There is an excitement that builds gradually when you reach the end of the story. The ending makes the reader wants to know what will happen next? So, definitely the sequel 🙂
  6. If I don’t talk about Hideo Tanaka, I think I am being completely unfair. Hideo’s character is the most complicated one the in the story. His childhood and how it affected in his present life is well presented by the author.
  7. Overall the plot, characters and the settings are amazing.

There is so much I can keep on talking about this wonderful story. But, I am forcing myself to stop from here 🙂 🙂 🙂

Finally it is OUT!!!! I am EXCITED!!! Here is my Guess……

Hello All!!!

After reading the heading of today’s post, I know most of you might be totally lost. Fear not, since I will take you  out of the darkness!!! :):):)

Today’s post is about a book that was supposed to be released in 2018, which is now already released. I was super excited about it and finally yesterday, I purchased the book via Amazon, and now I am totally impatient, to start reading it. And the most excited book that I was waiting for is…….

From Twinkle with Love by Sandhya Menon

36373464.jpg

Synopsis

Aspiring filmmaker and wallflower Twinkle Mehra has stories she wants to tell and universes she wants to explore, if only the world would listen. So when fellow film geek Sahil Roy approaches her to direct a movie for the upcoming Summer Festival, Twinkle is all over it. The chance to publicly showcase her voice as a director? Dreams come true. The fact that it gets her closer to her longtime crush, Neil Roy—a.k.a. Sahil’s twin brother? Dream come true x 2.

When mystery man “N” begins emailing her, Twinkle is sure it’s Neil, finally ready to begin their happily-ever-after. The only slightly inconvenient problem is that, in the course of movie-making, she’s fallen madly in love with the irresistibly adorkable Sahil.

Twinkle soon realizes that resistance is futile: The romance she’s got is not the one she’s scripted. But will it be enough? (from Goodreads)

My Guess and thoughts about the Book

After reading When Dimple met Rishi, I fell in love with the writing style of Sandhya Menon. Being and Indian, and living in the USA, the author shares the multicultural influence in her writing. When these two, vastly different cultures come together, it creates a wonderful set up for the story.

The importance of the culture and being adhered to the values is not an easy task, if you’re residing in a different country. I think that is the main reason why I love the books by Sandhya Menon, so much.

Published on the 22nd of May, 2018, I was totally excited about the whole book release thing. Was waiting till I get a hold of it. Alas, I was able to get the eBook, via Amazon yesterday. After reading the synopsis I was totally into it.

The book is about a young girl named Twinkle, and how love finds its way, at the most unexpected places and moments. I know some people might call this naïve, but my idea is that, it is super interesting to read about, how love find its way at the most unexpected times. I am sure the characters and the plot will be wonderful as always.

I know,  I will enjoy this book as much as I enjoyed, When Dimple met RishiDo check out my blog and stay tuned for the review, once I have completed the book.

Until next post,

Heartless by Marissa Meyer – Book Review

Hello All!!!!

Few days back I was able to finish my second Marissa Meyer book. If you have been with me for sometime, then you might remember that, I was very much looking forward to read Heartless. Few months back I got the opportunity to read Cinder and fell in love with the writing style of Marissa Meyer. She has this wonderful ability to re-tell stories in a different perspective. Or I can simply put it as re-create.

Let us head into to the review.

Before she was the Queen of hearts, she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.

Synopsis

Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next queen.

Then Cath meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the king and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship. Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

My Review

Well after and while reading the story I was completely enchanted by everything that was included and was completely hooked up till the end.

The story is about Catherine, who loves to bake, but it is against her parents wish. Her mere talent in Culinary arts makes her get the attention of the joyous, King of Hearts. Her parents being the Marquess and Marchioness, they insist that Cath should get married to the King and become the next Queen of Hearts.

Next enters Jest into the story that gives everything a turn over and ultimately, Cath ends up falling in love with him, instead of the King.

There are some important facts that I found about the story;

  1. The setting of the story was so magical, and it reminded me of a pure and serene environment of hearts, bustling cobble stone streets, women in long dresses and aprons, men working busily, open windows of houses and shops with flower pots, cakes and pies kept on windows, surrounding smells like freshly baked bread… It was like a heaven made on earth.
  2. The characters were so fitting to that setting and both the setting and the characters brought the story to the winning point.
  3. I loved Catherine, who loves to bake and loved all the simple yummy and scrumptious details of the goodies that she bakes.
  4. My favorite male character is Jest, well that is actually because the way he loved Cath and also for the strong man within him. When comparing with the King he has more manly qualities in him. Jest even helps the King to write notes to Catherine by putting his ideas and feelings into them.
  5. The re-telling of Alice in Wonderland is completely successful. I loved the way Marissa Meyer has constructed this story because, I never much liked the story Alice in Wonderland, as a child.
  6. The plot was great. The story was exciting and I simply loved every detail about it, and the way it was delivered to the reader.
  7. Overall the story was wonderful and reading it made me enjoy every bit of it.

I went through the blogosphere and saw so many reviews about this books. each article had unique set of ideas and I enjoyed each of them. Some have liked the book while some readers don’t. It totally depends on your own feelings.

I loved this story immensely and would highly recommend it to anyone who loves to read story re-tellings. Because Marissa Meyer is a perfect author who re-creates stories in a wonderful way.
