Hungry Hearts and Thirsty Thursday #145

Hello All!!!

Welcome to the Hungry Hearts and Thirsty Thursday, weekly meme hosted by Lexxie @ Unconventional book views

The idea of this feature is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not.  Share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read.

Today I chose The Selection by Kiera Cass

I couldn’t avoid her much longer. It was approaching dinnertime, and as the oldest child left in the house, cooking duties fell on me. I pulled myself out of bed and walked into the snake pit. I got a glare from Mom but no words. We did a silent dance through the kitchen and dining room as we prepared chicken, pasta, and apple slices, and set the table for five. If I glanced up from a task, she’d fix me with a fierce look as if she could shame me into wanting the same things she did. She tried that every so often. Like if I didn’t want to take on a particular job because I knew the family hosting us was unnecessarily rude. Or if she wanted me to do a massive cleaning when we couldn’t afford to have a Six come and help.

This is chosen from the book, where America, is refusing to take part in the selection process for choosing a partner for the prince. Her mother is very angry and she could not refuse preparing dinner, so inspite of her mother’s glares, she heads to the kitchen to prepare dinner. I love the food they are planning to have, as there dinner that night. (Guys, I am craving for Chicken and pasta now)

Until next post,

XOXOX

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #143

Hello All,

Today is Hungry Hearts and Thirsty Thursday, hosted by my fellow blogger, Lexxie @ (Un) Conventional Book Views

This is my second post , and I must say, I  am enjoying it very much.

The idea of Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts is to share a quote with food or drinks that showed up in a recent read, as well as if it’s something you think you’d like or not.  Share the title of the book it happened in, as well as the character who ate or drank the special little something you discovered between the pages of a good read. Share your link to the main post, once you have published your post.

So this is what I chose for this week.

My current read is When Dimple met Rishi by Sandhya Menon. At the time of speaking, Dimple has just arrived at San Francisco and is having a chilling cup of Starbucks iced coffee, thinking on what she would do during the day.

Iced coffee is what made me choose this part of the book. Because I was secretly thinking about having one myself. So it suited my current obsession and thought straight away to go with this one….

“An iced coffee, please,” she told the cute male barista with the septum piercing. The coffee shop buzzed, college students mingling like showy tropical fish with their brightly colored hair. The sheer scope and number of tattoos and piercings would have Mamma fainting. Dimple adored it. Clutching her iced drink, she made her way outside and meandered over to a stone fountain of the SFSU gator (which was turned off; thank you, drought conditions). Dimple sat on the lip of the bowl and tipped her face up to the sky, soaking up the sunshine and thinking about how she’d spend the next hour. Should she go by the Insomnia Con building now or do that with Celia later? She wanted to stop by the library, too, to see if they had the new Jenny Lindt memoir. …

(Menon, Sandhya. When Dimple Met Rishi: The laugh-out-loud YA romcom (Kindle Locations 351-354). Hodder & Stoughton. Kindle Edition.)

Until next post,

XOXOX

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts #142

Hello All!!!

Today I am coming to you, in a brand new post. A very big thank you to Lexxie @ (Un) Conventional Book Views for hosting this super duper and tasty meme on Thursday. I loved the whole idea!!!! and was super excited to take part in it.

This is my first ever post on Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts. I recently finished reading Stardoom, by Sophia Kingston. (You can check out the review here ) Even though I did not enjoy the book, there was a mouth-watering hungry moment in it. So here it is.

This is where Lauralie and Colton is ready to have their lunch at a Local Restaurant. The  waiter/ owner Ernesto, brings in the food, still sizzling and hot.

My Hungry Hearts Quote #1

After a few minutes, Ernesto appeared with two big pearly-white round plates. “Your beef steaks here,” he announced. The juicy-looking beef steaks with crisscrossed lines in the middle were still sizzling hot; you could see white steam dancing atop the steaks. On each side of the steak was a generous serving of fries and greens, finished with dashes of red pepper powder at the sides of the plates as décor.

(Kingston, Sophia. Stardoom (Chick Lit / Romantic Comedy Series Book 1) (p. 57). Unknown. Kindle Edition.)

It is indeed a mouth-watering situation isn’t it?
