His sweet by Hildur Sif Thorarensen – Book Review

Hello Booklovers!!!

I am back with another book review. First I must thank the author,Hildur Sif Thorarensen for sending me a free copy of the ebook, in exchange for an honest review.

His sweet by Hildur Sif Thorarensen

When Sheriff Yolanda Demetriou receives boxes of notebooks, she has no idea of the horrors that lie ahead. Will she be able to piece together the information and locate the house where childhood dreams become nightmares? Or will she be too late to save an abducted girl?

In this dark psychological thriller, Yolanda and her team embark on a hunt for a monster, following maddeningly sparse clues in a race to solve a heartless crime.

My Review

Two young boys find boxes full of notebooks and brings them up to the sheriff, Yolanda Demetriou , where she calls up her team for investigation. Yolanda has no idea where this will lead to or who is behind this. She later learns that a young girl has been abducted and held hidden by a man called Mr. Whiskers. With no proper names or locations and very little information, Yolanda begins her investigation with the help of FBI to find the missing girl. since they believed she is still alive.

The story was such a thriller and most importantly a short read. It just took me one whole day (which is today :)) to complete it. The story gripped me from the beginning and I was really interested to know, what will happen next. When I started reading, I did not know what to expect. I must say, that highly doubted whether, Yolanda will be able to save this girl. But, she finally she did.

It was wonderfully written and fantastic. The authors writing ability and the story line keeps the reader hooked to the story. There was this strange eeriness in the story which becomes, the wow factor of the whole story.

I enjoyed the way the story was written. In between each chapter, there was an extraction from a page from one of the notebooks the little girl has written. The reader feels great wave of emotions towards the little girl. As I mentioned earlier, I was excited and enthralled from the first page till the last.

I would highly recommend this book to all the book lovers, who are looking for a light but dark read.

My Rating

(4/5 Stars) Exceptional

Batman : Nightwalker by Marie Lu – Book Review

Hello Booklovers!!!

Welcome to my blog on this bright, sunny Friday!!! I am here with another book review, and this time it all about Batman. I was never a person who liked comic books, of super heroes. My only super hero was spider man and except him, I never bothered to watch any of the other heroes on tv. I know it sounds funny, but that was me :):):)

I wanted to read Batman : Nightwalker, because of Marie Lu. There was no other reason. I enjoyed warcross immensely and I really wanted to read Batman, from her eyes and creativity.

Batman : Nightwalker by Marie Lu

Before he was Batman, he was Bruce Wayne. A reckless boy willing to break the rules for a girl who may be his worst enemy.

The Nightwalkers are terrorizing Gotham City, and Bruce Wayne is next on their list.

One by one, the city’s elites are being executed as their mansions’ security systems turn against them, trapping them like prey. Meanwhile, Bruce is turning eighteen and about to inherit his family’s fortune, not to mention the keys to Wayne Enterprises and all the tech gadgetry his heart could ever desire. But after a run-in with the police, he’s forced to do community service at Arkham Asylum, the infamous prison that holds the city’s most brutal criminals.

Madeleine Wallace is a brilliant killer . . . and Bruce’s only hope.

In Arkham, Bruce meets Madeleine, a brilliant girl with ties to the Nightwalkers. What is she hiding? And why will she speak only to Bruce? Madeleine is the mystery Bruce must unravel. But is he getting her to divulge her secrets, or is he feeding her the information she needs to bring Gotham City to its knees? Bruce will walk the dark line between trust and betrayal as the Nightwalkers circle closer.(from Goodreads)

My Review

The story was super awesome and I fell in love with every word. It is indeed packed with action and you feel that you are too, taken into the Gotham city with the story of Bruce Wayne.

We meet our male protagonist of the story Bruce Wayne, a young millionaire, who has lost his parents and has good intentions towards the city and its people. After run-in with the police, he is forced to do community services at the Arkham Asylum. Bruce can be described as a very honest and caring person. He cares for his guardian, friends and even for the people who live in Gotham City.

At Arkham Asylum, he meets Madeline Wallace, brilliant, cunning and genius killer. She is a deceiving character and is a powerful member of the Nightwalkers, that threaten the Gotham City.

At the beginning of the story, I did not know what to expect from Madeline. I was exasperated with her, but when reading the story further more, it gave me an insight of  her character and the rough pace of life that she has gone through.  Throughout her life, she has been standing to support her family, and finally it highlights that her own brother has been using her, which I felt was bad.

As mentioned at the very beginning, I totally enjoyed the story, because of the writing style of Marie Lu. It is such a fun, entertaining, and quick read. You visualize all the actions and that, makes the reader hooked to the book, until the end. Had so much fun reading it and would highly recommend it to all the Batman lovers!!! (and if you not, then you must try this out!!!)
