Esme’s Wish by Elizabeth Foster

9781925652246-Cover.indd

Synopsis

When fifteen-year-old Esme Silver objects at her father’s wedding, her protest is dismissed as the action of a stubborn, selfish teenager. Everyone else has accepted the loss of Esme’s mother, Ariane – so why can’t she?

But Esme is suspicious. She is sure that others are covering up the real reason for her mother’s disappearance – that ‘lost at sea’ is code for something more terrible, something she has a right to know.

After Esme is accidentally swept into the enchanted world of Aeolia, the truth begins to unfold. With her newfound friends, Daniel and Lillian, Esme retraces her mother’s steps in the glittering canal city of Esperance, untangling the threads of Ariane’s double life. But the more Esme discovers about her mother, the more she questions whether she really knew her at all.

My Review

Esme, a fifteen year old girl, whose mother has disappeared 7 years back. Her father is now married again, but Esme does not like Penelope, her new stepmom. Esme constantly keeps on searching for her mother, when one day suddenly she is carried away into the sea, to another world, which is called Aeolia.

The author uses descriptive language to speak about this new world. While reading the book, it reminded me a lot about Harry Potter, Narnia and Percy Jackson series. The world is filled with dragons, hidden magic, different creatures etc. I really enjoyed reading all the adventures of Esme in Aeolia. The setting and the characters were created carefully and the authors writing style makes the story move smoothly.

The only question I had while reading was that, will Esme be able to find her mother. It was super exciting. I was completely into it, and was waiting till I reach the end. It is an exceptional Young Adult Book. Had so much fun reading and reviewing the book. Looking forward to reading the sequel!

Hello Booklovers!!!!

Synopsis

Emme is a sophomore in high school who starts dating, Brendon Agretti, the popular senior who happens to be a senator’s son and well-known for his good looks. Emme feels out of her comfort zone in Brendon’s world and it doesn’t help that his picture perfect ex, Lauren, seems determined to get back into his life, along with every other girl who wants to be the future Mrs. Agretti. Emme is already conflicted due to the fact her last boyfriend cheated on her and her whole world is off kilter with her grandpa’s health issues. Life suddenly seems easier keeping Brendon away and relying on her crystals and horoscopes to guide her. Emme soon starts to realize she needs to focus less on the stars and more on her senses. Can Emme get over her insecurities and make her relationship work? Life sure is complicated when you’re dating the it guy.

My Review

After being cheated by her ex-boyfriend, Emma is reluctant to date another guy again. She meets Brendon, one of the most famous boys in her school. Lots of girls closely tail Brendon not to mention his ex-girlfriend. She has many insecurities in relationships. Emma goes through many things in her life. Her grandmother is hospitalized and her grandfather is showing symptoms of Dementia. She is very close to her grandparents and finds it difficult to cope with all these drama going on in her life.

Emma believes in numerology, horoscopes and crystals. She tries to find solutions to her problems in them. Finally she believes that all the stars are in her favour, since she finds her soul mate.

Emma is a wonderful girl, who loves her family. She goes thorough many ups and downs in her life. She is a vegan, believes in horoscopes, loves her family and pretty much concerns about good grades in class. I loved how the character of  Emma has been created. She speaks volumes about hidden problems, insecurities in life and dealing with them.

The story is wonderful and the characters too. There is a deeper meaning to the plot, and important life lessons for the readers.
